People have managed to come up with some weird ways to work out at home. However, they’ve turned out to be just as effective and motivating as a regular workout routine if not more.
So if your set of dumbells or yoga mat have lost their appeal and the motivation’s low, these weird workouts are bound to change your outlook on home exercises.

Exercising while playing
Work-out games are not a novice but they are certainly not as common as they could be.
And that’s a shame. Because exercising while playing is one of the most fun and rewarding ways to get in shape at home.
Waiting to see the results of your hard exercising regimen can be discouraging. But fitness games nip that problem in the bud by providing other incentives to keep going.
For example, Ring Fit Adventure will track your calories burned, reward you with coins, clothes, and new skill moves, and pit you against powerful enemies that can only be defeated with the power of your squats and tricep extensions.
Exercising While Working
On average, a normal office worker spends 15 hours a day sitting down. The fact that what we do to relax also involves sitting down (movies, video games, crafting, etc.) isn’t helping either.
So, exercise equipment has adapted to our sitting lifestyle and now allows us to combine working out with sending out emails and corporate calls.
It started out small, with compact under-desk ellipticals and resistance bands mounted on the back of an office chair. Now, you can have a whole standing work station complete with a treadmill or an elliptical.
Multitasking is the best way to get fit in this day and age.
Exercising While Flying
How about working out with a VR flight simulator in the comfort of your home, right next to your couch? Sounds a bit too sci-fi-esque? No, it’s all true and you can do it too.
ICAROS is a Germany-based company that has turned exercising on its head by making it exciting and a one-of-a-kind experience.
Their flight simulators (ones you can use at home, too) are compatible with VR headsets that allow you to strengthen your core and upper body while flying and diving through the air.
So if lunges and situps bore you, maybe flying will do the trick for you.
Exercising With a Mirror
There are a lot of weird ways to work out and following a personal trainer trapped in a mirror is one of them.
Wall mirrors can be found in most dance, aerobics, and yoga classes. Mainly for you to keep an eye on your form. At home, you can also exercise in front of a mirror and, if it’s a smart one, follow on-demand and live classes displayed directly on the reflective surface.
Exercising with a ‘Mirror’ is the closest you can get to a gym experience in the comfort of your own home. It’s a strange but wonderful experience that’s bound to yield you results in yoga, strength- and cardio-training.
Exercising With a Door
What do you do when you can’t or won’t go to the gym but still want to get a full-body strength workout that doesn’t involve dumbells?
You find a door and a Monkii.
Pocket Monkii is a set of cords and grips that can turn any door into a full-blown gym. It uses suspension and your own bodyweight to shred your muscles. And don’t worry, it also comes with an app that tells you exactly what to do.
Unlike other home gyms, this one takes up around the same amount of space as a water bottle. So it’s not only apartment-friendly but can also follow you around the world when you’re traveling.
Will it be one of your weirdest workouts at home? Probably. Will it give you effective results? Absolutely.
Exercising While Cleaning
Some already consider cleaning a form of light exercise you can do at home. Others take their cleaning workout to a whole other level.
This includes power walking up and down the stairs, foregoing a dishwasher in order to tone arms while washing the dishes, and squatting instead of bending down.
Now weird enough? How about mopping while laying on the floor in the Superman pose? Or doing lunges while vacuuming?
Human creativity knows no bounds when it comes to working out and multitasking and that’s a beautiful thing.
